“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us…”: – Hebrews 12:1

Hebrews 12:1
Jesus never said that the Christian life would be easy. In fact, He said, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33
Our journey as Christians requires patience and persistence. Our adversary, the devil, has traps set for us along the way to try and keep us from finishing our race! Satan knows if he can “weigh” you down with unnecessary baggage, you will eventually drop out of the race for God.
What are some weights that will hinder you from running your race effectively? For some, it’s baggage from their past. They simply, won’t LET IT GO! Others, it’s the baggage of materialism. They become so consumed with, “Stuff” that they are unable to run their race for God. No matter what your “Weight” is you must lay it aside. In the end, all that matters is what you have done for Christ.
When it’s all said and done, I want to hear my Heavenly Father say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
